Geomatics Technical Specialist

You are an innovative geomatics expert who can bring fresh ideas and deliver value-added products to our clients with our patented SkyForestTM remote sensing technology in forests across Canada and around the world. You will help us produce and deliver SkyForestTM forestry information to our industry and government clients, and put your technical prowess to work by assisting with our ongoing R&D efforts.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Geomatics team with client services;
  • Produce on-time, accurate high quality products for customers;
  • Process remotely sensed data into SkyForestTM information products;
  • Find ways to address client needs with remote sensing applications;
  • Research and development in satellite remote sensing applied to forests

 Specific skills for this position:

  • Undergraduate, masters or equivalent work experience in geomatics, remote sensing, or physical geography with a very strong GIS component.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience using advanced remote sensing techniques;
  • Expert knowledge and experience of relevant image processing/GIS software packages (such as ENVI, ESRI, QGIS, Sentinel Toolboxes, and other open source software);
  • Photogrammetry, point cloud processing, lidar
  • Remotely sensed radar data
  • ArcGIS Desktop – ArcMap, ArcCatalog, Spatial Analyst;
  • Knowledgeable in using SQL and other programming languages to build queries in geodatabases;
  • Experience automating routine tasks for image processing in an appropriate programming language, particularly Python or R;
